Meal Prep Tips for Busy Guys
Prepare a few flexible ingredients instead of a fridge full of identical meals.

Prep less, use it more
Meal prep doesn’t need to take over Sunday. Start by removing two decisions from the week: breakfast and lunch. Choose foods you already enjoy and ingredients that work in more than one meal.
Check what’s in the cupboard before writing the shopping list. A plan built around existing food is often cheaper and easier than a fresh menu with twenty unfamiliar ingredients.
Use a simple ingredient set
Pick a protein food, a carbohydrate, and vegetables. Chicken or beans can go into a bowl, wrap, or salad. Rice or potatoes can support several dinners. Frozen vegetables are a convenient backup.
Make enough for the next few meals, not an unrealistic mountain of food. Cool and refrigerate cooked food promptly, and freeze portions you won’t use soon. Follow local food-safety guidance for storage and reheating.
Make breakfast automatic
Two choices are plenty. Plain yoghurt with oats and fruit can be assembled quickly. Eggs on toast work when you have a little more time. Keep the ingredients easy to reach.
Plan the difficult evening
Decide on a backup before the week starts. A bean chilli from the freezer, eggs on toast, or a quick wrap can prevent the “nothing to eat” decision spiral.
The backup should be something your household will actually eat. A perfect meal that nobody wants won’t help.
Keep the plan flexible
One takeaway doesn’t cancel your preparation. Use the remaining ingredients at the next meal. Review what was eaten and what was wasted before shopping again.
Your next step: choose one breakfast, one lunch, and one backup dinner. That’s enough for your first prep session.
